THE PDLYTE PLAYER JOURNAL
The little details around the game. The routines that make it yours.
I usually realise I've packed everything except the little things just as I'm leaving for the club. Having a box rather than buying individual sachets makes a lot more sense for me. A couple go in the bag and the rest stay by the front door.
I had loose sachets in about three different pockets of my bag before buying the box. Now I know where they are and can see when I'm running low. Not a glamorous reason for choosing it, but it's exactly the sort of thing that makes my week easier.
I did the usual thing of comparing the box with buying a few singles, and the box made more sense. I already know I'll put sachets in my bag, so there wasn't much point ordering one at a time. Still nice that the single option is there when you're just starting.
There's a small pocket in my racket bag that I never used for anything useful. I keep a couple of sachets in there now. The box stays at home, so I don't have to carry everything around or remember to buy a single one each time.
I tried the single sachet first and then decided the box was the sensible next order. I usually have two or three court bookings in the diary, so keeping a few at home works for me. Much less faffing about before I leave.
Sunday doubles has turned into a bit of a ritual: book the court, sort my bottle, then remember where I left my racket. This fits into that routine nicely. I went for one tub first rather than committing to a bigger order straight away.
My bottle used to be the last thing I thought about before a match. Now I get it ready while I'm packing my shoes, which is a small change but one I've actually stuck with. The tub lives next to the bottles rather than disappearing into the back of a cupboard.
I'm terrible at remembering anything that's tucked away. I've put this next to the breakfast bits and that's worked much better for me. Early days, so I'm not going to make big claims about the formula; I just like having a routine I can keep up.
I was going to buy magnesium and Omega-3 separately anyway, so the combination was a useful find. I still checked both products rather than picking it just for the extra gel. The gel has gone straight in my bag for the next club evening.
The bottle is the bit that first caught my eye, to be honest. I like the look of the smaller format much more than another big sports nutrition tub. It's sitting with my daily bits rather than my match-day kit.
I liked being able to compare the single tub, bigger order and monthly delivery in one place. I stuck with one tub because my playing schedule is all over the place at the moment. A subscription might suit me later, but I would rather work that out properly first.
Two friends from the club wanted to try it as well, so the three-for-two option was an easy choice. We split the order instead of all buying a separate tub. Wouldn't have needed three for myself, but it worked out nicely this way.
I wanted something I could add to an ordinary day without turning the whole day into a project. Keeping the jar visible has helped with that. I'm following the label and taking my time, which feels more sensible than expecting anything overnight.
The bundle looked tempting but a single bottle was the better choice for me this time. I'd rather know I'll use something before ordering more. Would love a little space on the pack to jot down the date I opened it, but that's a personal habit rather than a problem.
I looked at the combination with magnesium and ended up starting with Omega-3 on its own. I tend to add one thing at a time so I can work out what actually fits my routine. Nice to have a choice without feeling pushed into the biggest option.
Quite refreshing to be able to buy one tub without hunting for the smallest option. I nearly went for the bigger order, but we've already got enough half-used things in the kitchen. One first, then decide. That's the approach I'm taking this time.
I've finally cleared a bit of shelf space for the stuff I use before playing. This goes next to the shaker and spare bottle, which means I actually remember it. The separate colours across the range are useful when you're packing in a hurry.
I bought one jar because I wanted to see how it fitted into my day first. The three-jar option might make sense later, but I like not having to make that decision immediately. I'm only a little way into it, so this is more about the routine than anything else.
I wanted to check what a regular order would cost without accidentally choosing one. The separate purchase options made that straightforward. Went for a one-time bottle in the end; I tend to keep my daily orders quite small until I know what I get through.
Bought a single bottle rather than a bigger order because I'm trying to be less impulsive with supplements. I like that I can come back for the combination later. An extra close-up of the bottle on the page would be handy, although I found what I needed in the other images.
Had Endurance and Electrolytes open in two tabs while choosing my order. The different packaging helped me keep track of what I was looking at, which sounds daft until you've compared a lot of almost identical tubs. I've started with Endurance rather than buying both at once.
I play early on Saturday and I'm no good at getting organised before coffee. Bottle and bag are ready the night before now. This is one of the things I put out while I'm doing that, rather than trying to remember everything at the door.
My partner has a whole system for his supplements. I don't, so I've kept this very straightforward: one jar in the same place every morning. It feels like a manageable addition rather than another thing I need to organise.
I was looking at magnesium and Omega-3 separately, so seeing them together saved me a bit of decision-making. I still read through both before choosing. The gel is a handy extra for the kit bag rather than something I'd leave on the kitchen shelf.
I really like being able to tell the bottles apart at a glance. I've had a few brands where everything looked almost identical, which wasn't particularly helpful in a busy morning. This one has its own look and its own place beside my other daily bits.
Between work, lessons and social games, my week rarely looks the same twice. I like having one tub at home that belongs to my training setup. I've kept it as a one-time purchase for now because that suits the way I plan things.
The number of times I've arrived with two rackets and no bottle is slightly embarrassing. I've started putting the tub and bottle together when I pack, so one reminds me of the other. A very ordinary little habit, but it's working for me.
I've bought plenty of bigger packs that seemed like a good idea and then sat on the shelf. This time I've kept it to one jar. I can always come back for three once I know it has a place in my day, and I like having that option rather than feeling I need to stock up now.
I only wanted one sachet to begin with, so I'm glad it wasn't box-or-nothing. It fits in the little side pocket of my bag without getting in the way. If I keep reaching for it, I'll go for the ten-pack next time.
I added a single sachet while choosing the rest of my order. It was an easy way to try the format without buying a whole box. I've put it with the bits I check before a club session, because otherwise I'd forget it was there.
